One of the reasons to always buy your car tires from a reputable store is to get good discounts and the assurance that you’re buying a good, quality tire. Tire replacement is an unavoidable expense you’d face as a car owner, and where you buy your tires hugely affects the amount you’d pay to have them.

Walmart is one of those big stores where you can buy almost anything, from household items to office equipment & gear, fitness items, automotive care products, and even more. But should I buy tires at Walmart?

The simple answer is yes, you should buy your car tires at Walmart. In fact, Walmart’s tire prices are competitively low, and you can have the tires installed for you right away by a professional.

Should I Buy Tires at Walmart? (What You Should Know)

First things first, it feels much more comfortable shopping from Walmart, and there are many outlets across all US states.

There is a high chance a Walmart center is just a stone throw from your apartment or home. Talking about buying tires from Walmart, that’s a great thing to do – you’d probably save a reasonable amount doing so.

But, not all Walmart centers sell car tires; if your local Walmart outlet doesn’t have an Auto Care center, you probably won’t find car tires there.

Notwithstanding, you can place an order online for the tires, and they’d be delivered to your doorstep. However, one of the benefits of visiting Walmart Auto Care centers is that you can have the tires fixed for you right away.

Walmart sells tires from a lot of brands, both new and old brands, as well as popular and unpopular brands.

So, whether you’re looking for a new set of Cooper, Goodyear, Pirelli, BF Goodrich, Continental, Bridgestone, or Michelin tires, you’d find them at Walmart. Of course, there are tens of other brands to buy their tires from Walmart.

Tire Brands Sold By Walmart

While these are the top brands you’d find their tires on Walmart, there are also other brands that have their tires listed on Walmart. Carefully search the tire listing section and find the best tire (within your budget) to buy from Walmart.

Walmart sells different tires from these brands, from passenger car tires to tires for trucks, motorcycles, trailers, ATVs, golf carts, tractors, and luxury/performance cars. Whatever type of car you drive, Walmart has a new set of tires for you to buy from them.

How to Buy Tires from Walmart

There are two main ways to purchase your new set of tires from Walmart; you either walk into the auto center and make your order or place an order online for the tires to be delivered to you. The online ordering option is best for people who do not have Walmart Auto Center in their locale.

If you’re ordering online, you need to just visit the main Walmart website, click on the search bar and search for “Car Tires.”

When the search results appear, you can proceed to narrow your choice using the various filtration options available on the website. For example, you can filter the search results by brand, tire size, vehicle type, and all that stuff.

To ensure you get exactly the tire(s) for your car, Walmart lets you select your car make, type, and other varieties; this will allow them to sell you the exact size of tire that would fit into your car’s wheel hub. Well, this literally isn’t a distinctive feature because all tire sales websites offer it.

Tire Installation at Walmart

Of course, you can have your newly bought tires installed for you in Walmart Auto Care centers – but at a fee.

If the tires were bought from Walmart, you’d have them fixed for a standard fee of $15 or $17 per tire, depending on the Auto Center you’re getting it done. This implies you’d be spending around $60 – $68 to have all four tires installed at a stretch.

But, if you got the tires elsewhere and only came for installation, you’d be paying around $25 – $27 per tire; while this might seem quite expensive, it’s cheaper than what you pay in some local mechanic workshops for new tire installation.

Walmart’s “Basic Tire Installation” package includes the following at the $15 – $17 price (an additional $10 if you bought elsewhere):

  • Tire mounting
  • Lifetime balance and rotation every 7,500 miles
  • Valve stems/TPMS service pack
  • 50-mile lug re-torque

Now, that sounds interesting; even so, at Walmart, you’re sure your car is being handled by a professional mechanic, which can be easily held accountable if anything goes wrong after the tire installation.

Also, if you bought tires from Walmart and need them delivered at a particular Auto Care center where you wish to have them installed for you, then you must call the particular center and notify them prior, and also book an appointment when you should bring in your car for the tire installation.

Only tires bought from a Walmart store qualify for this warranty. This warranty covers unexpected road hazards, flat tire repairs, and free replacement of non-repairable tires within the first 25% of tread wear.

If you buy a tire from Walmart and you aren’t satisfied with the performance, you can return it within 90 days from the date you made the purchase. Buying tires from Walmart is safer, cheaper, and more comfortable.

What More?
